After decades of service to the title industry — and since the very beginning of Texan Title Insurance Company — Vice President and Underwriting Counsel Bruce Goldston is stepping into a well-earned retirement.
Bruce’s career has been defined by steady leadership, deep knowledge, and a genuine commitment to helping agents navigate even the most complex challenges. Since joining Texan Title at its inception, he has been a trusted resource for independent agents and colleagues across Texas, bringing clarity and confidence to difficult files and underwriting questions.
Before entering the title industry, Bruce spent 15 years in private practice concentrating on real estate, probate, and commercial matters, followed by three years handling commercial and real estate litigation for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Over more than 40 years as an attorney — including over two decades in title insurance — he served as Claims Counsel, Underwriting Counsel, and Regional Counsel, supervising underwriting across Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
A graduate of Austin College with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law, Bruce built a reputation for both technical expertise and practical guidance. Many agents know him for his calm approach to complex problems and for the simple advice he often shared with those new to the business: “Learn what’s in the Basic Manual.”

Recently, the Texan Title family gathered to celebrate Bruce’s career and mark this exciting new chapter. During the evening, he was presented with a framed leather map of Texas inscribed:
“In recognition of your years of commitment and dedication to Texan Title.”

Outside of work, Bruce enjoys spending time with his daughter Claire, his dog Charlie, and his brother John, along with fishing, golfing, and enjoying some of San Antonio’s favorite local restaurants.
While his day-to-day presence will be missed, the legacy Bruce leaves behind — in the relationships he built, the agents he supported, and the culture he helped shape — will continue to guide Texan Title for years to come.
From all of us at Texan Title, thank you, Bruce, for your leadership, friendship, and years of dedication. We wish you nothing but the very best in this next chapter.
